A LIONS LIFE IN SOUTH AFRICA TODAY

There is no such thing as a truly "wild lion" in South Africa today. All the lions you see are in some way or another habituated to humans and enclosed behind fences. Few places are large enough to give the lions, among other African preditors, the opportunity to hunt for themselves.

"I will give a safe haven to any lion already existing in captivity whose quality of life can be improved by coming to LLA, but I can not watch new lions being created to live behind fences."

- Andi Rive

At LOVE LIONS ALIVE Sanctuary

we give our lions the best care we possibly can. Our enclosures are as natural as possible. All have trees to climb in, rock pools for drinking (or playing), natural shade underneath bushes or behind rocks. Lions love most of all high ground with a beautiful view, we therefor try to include boulders and different levels of ground in our enclosures.

A LION'S VALUE

Our aim is to create awareness that lions are more valuable alive than dead. Andi Rive has created a safe haven for lions. She reckons that there are more than 10 000 lions just in South Africa that need a home of peace and security free from breeding, cub petting and no possibility of a future as a trophy on someones wall.
